24 horas nacionales es una pieza audiovisual resultante de una acción performática de registro llevada a cabo de forma ininterrumpida durante todo un día. El ejercicio consistió en capturar en cinta de video VHS, mediante edición directa y el control manual de una videocasetera, exclusivamente las ráfagas visuales, cortinillas de presentación y portadas de diseño que introducen las diferentes secciones de las cuatro emisiones diarias del noticiero oficial de la televisión cubana, omitiendo de manera radical todo el contenido periodístico e informativo de los programas. Al purgar la narrativa y el relato de los hechos, la obra opera un vaciado ideológico que reduce el aparato de propaganda a su mera cáscara formal y valor estético, evidenciando la estructura cíclica, monótona y abstracta sobre la que se construye el discurso informativo del Estado.

24 horas nacionales (24 National Hours) is an audiovisual piece resulting from a performative recording action carried out uninterruptedly over an entire day. The exercise consisted of capturing on VHS videotape, through direct editing and the manual control of a VCR, exclusively the visual flashes, introductory graphics, and title cards that announce the different sections of the four daily broadcasts of the official Cuban television news, radically omitting all journalistic and informative content. By purging the narrative and the reporting of events, the work operates an ideological emptying that reduces the propaganda apparatus to its mere formal shell and aesthetic value, exposing the cyclical, monotonous, and abstract structure upon which the State's information discourse is built.
